Ethan is searching for his missing wife, Mia, which leads him to a derelict plantation mansion, home of the Baker family. The game starts with a series of video's from Ethan Winters' late wife Mia. The videos range from pleasant exchanges turning toward dark sinister warnings. The final video, reveals that Mia is in fact very much alive and was presumed dead three years ago. Mia actively pleads with her husband that she is sorry for her lies and that he must "stay away". Ethan, naturally ignores the warning and travels to Louisiana. This eventually leads him to the heart of the backwater of Louisiana to a large planation owned by the mysterious Baker family. The Nazi Zombies story of WWII takes place in an alternate history, where the Nazis have conducted research on necromancy based on the legend of King Frederick Barbarossa's hidden treasure. The story is centered around Marie Fischer (Katheryn Winnick), a young German engineer working with the Office of Strategic Services. Marie's brother, Klaus, has taken part in the research of Barbarossa's treasure, working with Doctor Peter Straub (Udo Kier). Marie is joined by three companions: ex-art thief Drostan Hynd (David Tennant), ex-art historian and French Resistance fighter Olivia Durant (Élodie Yung), and military sergeant Jefferson Potts (Ving Rhames), as they attempt to conduct a covert operation to learn of the Nazis' plans, retrieve the stolen artifacts and rescue Klaus in the process.
